BC Women retain Western Canada Championship Trophy
The BC Women's Cricket team successfully defended their title at the recent Western Canada Championships against Alberta Women's Cricket.
BC won two of the three T20 matches held on August 5 and 6 at Brockton Oval and Connaught Park. The event, which started in 2009, provides a unique opportunity for female players in the two provinces to compete at a more intense level and develop valuable skills that could one day see them selected to play for Canada.
Meraloma had a strong presence in the championship team with eight members in the 13-woman squad. Top awards went to Meraloma with Women's captain, Chrissie Blackadder taking out the Best Batter of the tournament for the 2nd year in a row. Juhi Jaferii received the Best Bowler of the tournament for her efforts in Saturday's 2nd game bowling 4/17 off 4 overs.
Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate this event and support the team.
